'Bitch is the New Black' Tina Fey Says of Hillary Clinton on SNL
February 25, 2008

Los Angeles, CA - 30 Rock star Tina Fey set the bloggersphere on fire this week with a pro-Hillary Clinton rant on the first episode of Saturday Night Live since the writer's strike ended. Saying "bitch is the new black," Fey gave a passionate, thinly veiled endorsement of Clinton on SNL, urging voters on Texas and Ohio to "get on board" and vote for the Democratic presidential candidate.

As a special guest on the first new episode of Saturday Night Live since the Writer's Guild of America strike launched, Tina Fey was quick to step right back into her old place on the show. Co-hosting the "Weekend Update" with former colleague Amy Poehler once again, Fey gave her usual dry delivery of recent political and weird news. Then, all hell broke loose.

After lambasting Barack Obama and his supporters (including Oprah Winfrey and her followers), Fey transitioned into a rather unorthodox endorsement of Clinton. Calling out people who say "Hillary is a bitch," Fey said, "Let me say something about that: Yeah, she is. And so I am I and so is this one," gesturing to Amy Poehler. "Know what? Bitches get stuff done!" Fey then went on to urge voters in Texas and Ohio to "get on board" because "bitch is the new black!"

Even Hillary Clinton herself seems to be a fan of the SNL episode, saying at a rally in Houston this week that "I just have this sense that finally my opponent is getting maybe a little bit of scrutiny... How many of you saw Saturday Night Live?... This wouldn't have happened just a couple of weeks ago. People are starting to say, hey, you know what, we have two candidates..."

The "Weekend Update" portion of the show also featured an amusing guest appearance by Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who mocked himself by overstaying his welcome at the news desk after finishing his segment. The episode also hosted an Obama spoof, featuring a stony-faced Fred Armisen as Obama being worshipped by news anchors as Poehler's Clinton sits ignored.

The "conventional wisdom" says that increased exposure is supposed to make us all see the Obama light. But it hasn't worked that way for me. The more I see and hear of him and his wife, the more his campaign sounds like a two-note clanging bell: hollow and self-serving (that's him) or petulant and self-righteous (that's her).

I'm not saying he won't win---it's looking like he might. But it isn't the landslide or the mandate he seems to think or to want you to think. If it's a victory, it's a Bush-in-2000 kind of a victory. More 'states' might have gone for Obama, but states aren't actual voters. And if you exclude all the Republicans who are voting for him to keep Clinton out, how many more actual real live Democrats are going for Obama than Clinton?

'Democratic network', Jesus. Like the DNC---don't get me started on the DNC--- and other insiders haven't drunk as much of his Kool-said as he has. (Speaking of Jesus, JC once said a prophet is without honor in his own country. But then he'd never met Obama, had he?)

Anyway, Hillary's not done yet. The media built her coffin for her before this whole thing even started. That doesn't mean her supporters want her to lie down in it unless she has to. Rock on, Hill!

Vote Hillary '08 !

Can we use Tina Fey as a "write in" candidate?

Loved it... thought it was absolutely hilarious. That said, when Hillary tried to break it out at the debate... it just seemed kind of whiny and pathetic.

Thank you, AJ- and I agree with Tina's "Bitches get stuff done" (I have 3 sisters and a 5'5" spitfire of a mother, I have witnessed first hand, lol)

Thanks A.J. for the link to the SNL skit. I was getting "no longer available" everywhere. It's pretty funny. I heard the whole episode of SNL was good.

Tina Fey was definitely bustin loose on SNL. She even slung a low blow at Lindsay Lohan, her former 'Mean Girls' co-star (and friend), lol. But even funnier than those two moments was Tina's performance in the fake ad for "Annuale," the once a year period pill:

<See video below>

Just priceless...

If a network like, say NBC, is going to remove content from YouTube, they could at least have the good sense to post a clip that actually loads properly on their own site. I have had nothing but trouble watching stuff on NBC.com and this clip was no exception.
